Hosting a Cold Weather Dinner Party

A nice roast chicken, or pot roast, with the carrots and potatoes done right in the roasting pan, a green veggie, and cake or pie for dessert will fix you up. Then hot coffee or tea for that after dinner conversation and you are all set.

Dress comfortably, but festively for your party. Don’t fuss with tight, elaborate club clothes or frilly sissy dresses that are too beaded or ruffled to move in. You want your guests to relax and they won’t if you can’t. The perfect outfit would be a skirt in velvet or soft wool, in a deep green or red is lovely this time of year. A black, fancy silk blouse or wool sweater in jewel colors couldn’t be prettier! Stockings and heels (once you are done cooking!), simple make up, simple hair and fancy earrings will keep you ready to party, but easy to fix up if you get flushed in the kitchen.
